He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Mae and Leroy Smalls; his brothers, Stanley Smalls "Ronnie" and Willie Smalls; his siblings' children, Lillie Mae Sawyer and Vincent Smalls; his brother-in-law Nathaniel Bright; and his close friends, Wilmer Mitchell "Junie" and Calvin Holmes.
He is survived by: his siblings, Leroy Smalls of Jacksonboro, Gwendolyn Bright of Jacksonboro, Elizabeth Sawyer (James) of Jacksonboro, Johnny Smalls (Jeanette) of Smoaks and Donald "Pinky" Smalls (Ruthie) of Smoaks; his aunts and uncles, Adelia Stokes of Atlanta, Georgia, Janie L. Nelson of Jacksonboro, Richard Cox of Arizona, Andrew Walker (Vernelle) of North Charleston and Raymond Walker of Jacksonboro; his close friends, Anthony and Benny Gant; his caregivers, Harriet Linder-Grigg, Paris Smalls and Tamara Smalls; Carolyn Godley. He is also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews; forty-five grand nieces and nephews; sixty-one great-grand nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stephens Funeral Home (1767 Jefferies Hwy, Walterboro, SC 29488). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Greater Calvary A. M. E. Church (1180 Hope Plantation Ln, Jacksonboro, SC 29452).
