He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. Heywood and Frances Heywood; and his brother Joe Heywood. He is survived by: his children, Jesse Shane Heywood (Melissa), Honey Heywood-Thomason (Brian) and Stephanie Heywood; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Powers (Storm), Annabelle Frick, Kenan Heywood, Brittani Wise (Aaron), Morgan Waller (Dustin), Tori Thomason, Sterling, Nohea Roberts, Brayden, Tyeler, Kenslee, Charlee Wise, Kayleigh, Savana and Harrison Waller; his sister Sharon Brady (Sam); and his grandchildren, Sam, Lane Heywood and Poppy Heywood. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
