He was predeceased by: his parents, Sammy Summer and Effie Price Summer; his wife Carolyn Connelly Summer; his daughter Nora Jean Summer; and his siblings, Clovis Summer and Daphne Monts.
He is survived by: his children, Erwin Summer (Anne), Wanda Tucker (Jason) and Cindy Heyward (Wayne); and his brother Douglas Summer (Ann). He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
