He was predeceased by: his parents, Hesey Lee and Blaine Gillian Smith; his son Phillip Smith; and his siblings, Lula Derrick, Julia Poole, Doris Price, Alice Smith, Peggy Smith, Bud Smith and Bob Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Snipes Smith; and his sons, Donald Smith (Carol), Larry Smith (Janet) and Lavern Smith (Lynn). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
