We are sad to announce that on March 27, 2023, at the age of 86, Joseph Alston James III in Lexington, South Carolina, born in Columbia, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Attaway James and Joseph Alston James; his wife Saleta Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia.; and his sister Anne James Dixon. He is survived by: his daughters, Almand James Barron (Robert) of Columbia and Alston James Meetze (George) of Lexington; his sister Joan James Chamblin of Columbia; and his grandchildren, Catherine Almand Barron of Columbia, William Seabrook Meetze, Joseph Alston Meetze and Robert Hamilton Meetze of Lexington. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community in West Columbia.
