He was predeceased by : his grandparents, William Bryant, Nettie Boozer Merritt, Millard Wiley and Beatrice Kibler Wallace of Newberry, SC; his uncle William B.; and his aunt Virginia Merritt.

He is survived by : his parents, Richard A. Merritt and Brenda Wallace Merritt; his sister Kelly Merritt Amick (Mark) of West Columbia; and his nephew Hannon Michael Amick of Cayce. He is also survived by cousins and friends and co-workers.
