He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Vess and Juanita Jackson; and his granddaughter Delilah Cheyenne Hurley. He is survived by: his wife June Rackley Vess; his children, Dana Michelle Vess, James, Amanda Dutch, III, Christi Kay Vess, Michael Vess, Jr., Matthew Grimes, Brandon, Cari Vess, David and Carolyn Hurley; and his siblings, Marsha Vess, Glenda Vess, Ronnie (LaNell Vess), Gary, Linda Vess and Curtis Vess.
