She was predeceased by: her parents, Frances Mellette Dinkins and Vernon Robert Dinkins; her siblings, Francis Mellette Dinkins, Vernon Robert Dinkins, Jr. and Mary Esther Dinkins James; and her brother-in-law Arthur Whitford James, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Katharine "Kappy" Rappe Hurst of Sumter and Roddey Rappe, III of Little Rock; her granddaughter Eva Rappe Tyrell (Cole); her great grandchildren, Miller Katharine and Frankie Mae Tyrell of Lombard, IL; her nephews, Arthur Whitford James, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Clemson, SC, Robert Hastings James (Frances) and William Hamilton (Cynthia) of Sumter, SC; and her caregiver Anita Hearon.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight (221 Broad St, Sumter, SC 29150).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 226 W. Liberty Street, Sumter, SC 29150, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one's choice.
