She was predeceased by: her parents, Doode Huggins and Edith Johnson Huggins; her husband Elton Newman; her son Kenneth Glenn Newman; and her siblings, Mendell, Byron Huggins, Anne Brown and Patricia Dampier.

She is survived by: her daughter Donna Newman Tyner (Danny) of Lugoff; her sisters, Eloise Blackmon (Keith) and Sharon Sturdivant (Johnny); her grandchildren, Ashley Divers (Patrick) and Patrick Tyner (Hope); and her great grandchildren, Austin Divers, Parker Tyner, Isabella Tyner, Madison Tyner and Emmarie Divers.
