He was predeceased by : his parents, Conard Harold and Ella C. Jenkins Wendell; his son Richard Allan Sanders; and his siblings, Thelma Jane Wendell Fleming and Roy Gene Wendell.

He is survived by : his wife Amy Dobson Wendell; his daughters, Theresa Putrel (Anthony) and Angie Mathis (Bill); and his sister Carol Sue Neil. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
