He was predeceased by: his parents, William James Hinson and Annie Childers; and his siblings, Tony Rex Hinson, Mack Hinson, Jimmy Hinson and Hattie Anderson.
He is survived by: his children, Juanita Hinson-Hernandez (Felix), Zetta Kelly, James Douglas "Bobo" Kelly, Jonathan LaBounty, Mitchell Hinson and Douglas Hinson, Jr.; his niece Pat Gaskins; and his cousins, Bubba, Jimbo, Teresa, Wayne and William Hinson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice.
