He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe English Hornsby and Marie Bowers Hornsby; his siblings, Mary Ruth Watts, W. L. Hornsby, Paul Hornsby Sylvia Smith and Michael Hornsby; and his pets, Tiny and Sam.

He is survived by: his wife Mildred Branham Hornsby; his son Joseph A. "Joey" Hornsby (Valencia); and his grandchildren, Abby Hornsby and Alex Hornsby (Sam). He is also survived by 3 step-grandchildren; and 4 step great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Thiel Meyer Animal Adoption Center.
