He was predeceased by: his parents, George Melton and Alma Dent Ellisor; his stepfather James Dent; and his siblings, Dorothy Critchley, Tommy, Jimmy and Barry Dent.
He is survived by: his spouse Dee Melton; his children, Robert Melton and Julie Mason; his siblings, William Dent (Darlene) and Brenda Hutto (Danny); and also Shirley Marsh. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
