He was predeceased by: his parents, Watson Marion Tolson and Rebecca T. Compton; and his sisters, Kathleen T. Broadway and Marian T. Gray. He is survived by: his wife Amelia Ann Tolson; his children, Watson Tolson (Marie) and Anna Marie Strickland (Eddie); his grandchildren, Andrew Tolson (Hannah), Kayla Keith (Shane), Chase Strickland (Lexi) and Alex Tolson (Gracie); and his great grandchildren, Mason McGuire, Jase Keith, Loeffler Tolson, Brewer Tolson, Harper Strickland, Silas Strickland, W. A. Tolson and Whitt Tolson.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Layton-Anderson Funeral Home (4210 W Palmetto St, Florence, SC 29501). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Lynchburg First Baptist Church (288 Church St, Lynchburg, SC 29080).
