He was predeceased by: his parents, Mead Hartwell and Sally Hartwell; his sister Harriet; his brother-in-law Peter Messer; and his nephew Julian Mead Hartwell III.

He is survived by: his wife Valerie Hartwell; his sister Sari Ramsey; his sons, Jeffrey (Katrina) and Joshua Hartwell; and his grandchildren, Jackson, Kaja, Madeline, Aiden, Dylan and Libby Hartwell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Old Main Street Cemetery.
