He was predeceased by: his parents, Allison Murphy and Hettie Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Eva Murphy; his brothers-in-law, Steve Manning and Gene Herline; and his sibling's children, Gina, Heather and Keith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Transplant Games, Fisher House of Charleston, American Cancer Society or to Doorways in Richmond, VA.
