He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester A. MacDonald and Margaret Macus MacDonald; his stepmother Edna MacDonald; and his siblings, Chet MacDonald and Charlotte Richter.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Pettit MacDonald; his sisters, Gloria Yencho, June Croll and Lorraine Haynes; his children, Deborah M. Elliott (Robert) of Hillsboro, Mary M. Cordray (William) of Hilton Head, S. C and Daniel J. MacDonald (Susan) of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, Daniel MacDonald, Jr. and SaraMadeline MacDonald (Mattie); his great grandchildren, Sanna Ferry and Sadie Ferry; and his niece Diane Croll. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to a charity of the donor's choice, especially for the care and comfort of children in need or veterans, First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, or Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
