He was predeceased by: his wife Josie Bowden Blackwelder; his parents, Tom Paul Hill and Addie Elizabeth Chitty Blackwelder; his child Claude Blackwelder, Jr.; and his siblings, J. C. Blackwelder and Lois Blackwelder Wade (Mack Artis Blackwelder).

He is survived by: his child Cynthiabooboo Roberts (Michael); and his siblings, Geraldine Wade Cato of Graniteville, SC, Earl (Linda Blackwelder) and Katherine Blackwelder (Jerry Martin). He is also survived by his wife and parents, family members.
