She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Centonze and Elsie Powers; her stepfather John Morris Jacobs; her siblings, Josephine Gilbertson, Major Centonze, Cecelia Chestnut and John M. Jacobs; and her granddaughter Natasha Story Lawson.

She is survived by: her sons, Gordon "Douglas" Story, Jr. (Susan) of North Charleston and Michael Craig Story (Karen) of North Charleston; her grandson Gordon Douglas Story, III; her great grandchildren, Morgan Lawson and Tyler Lawson; and her sisters, Anne Centonze of North Charleston, Barbara Craig (Moody) of North Charleston and Deborah Johnson (Russell) of Moncks Corner. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
