She was predeceased by : her husband Marvin M. Howell. She is survived by : her children, Marvin Howell, Jr. and Avis Howell Gathers; her brother Daniel Brunson; her grandsons, Marvin III and Michael; her stepsister Josephine Kennerly; her stepgranddaughter Cassandra Dunnings; and her siblings-in-law, Marcellous, Jometta Brunson, Carolyn Howell and Alma Brunson. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19 and CDC regulations, the family requests no visitors at the residence.
