He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Fitzhugh Lee and Mary Smith Gillam of Orangeburg; his wife Sarah Lenoir Ballard (Sally) of Orangeburg; his children, Lenoir Gillam of Athens, Georgia and Allen Gillam of Orlando, Florida; his siblings-in-law, Larry and Bruton Watt of Denmark; and his friend Lurline Higgett. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Church of the Redeemer (1606 Russell St, Orangeburg, SC 29115).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church of the Redeemer, P.O. Drawer 9, Orangeburg, SC 29116 or to a charity of one's choice in honor of the humble and remarkable life that Hugh lived.
