He was predeceased by: his wife Joan; and his brother Michael. He is survived by: his children, Patricia Hendrickson (Robert), Nancy Lunsford (Jeffrey) and James Joseph Heaney (Molly); his grandchildren, Jocelyn, Robert, Frank and Ben; and his great grandchild Savannah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends.
