He was predeceased by : his father William Claude Horton; and his sister Claudette Horton Whitlock. He is survived by : his wife Gail Elias Horton; his children, Craig Horton and Kathy Horton Prass (John); his grandchildren, Josh Horton (Whitney), Dillon Davis (Raechel), Carley Horton Godfrey (Price) and Amber Davis; his great grandchildren, Griffin Davis, Mia Hughes, Parks Godfrey and Bowen Godfrey; and his nephews, Joe Burchette and Pete Whitlock (Helen).

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel (2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
