He was predeceased by: his parents, James Perkins "Perk" and Mollie Sullivan Thurman; his wife Georgia D. "Dot" Thurman; and his siblings, Johnny, Knox, David Thurman, Madge T. Davis, Thelma Venters and Gladys Sutton.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Huntley (Danny) of Mt. Croghan, SC and Tami Thurman (Michelle) of Mt. Croghan, SC; his grandchildren, Holly Sims (Gabe) of Pageland, SC, Brittany Chavarria (Chaim) of Nashville, TN and Zachary Gulledge of Cookeville, TN; his great grandchildren, Kylie, Caden, Cora Sims and Cruz Chavarria; his brother William "Billy" Thurman of Ruby, SC; and his sisters-in-law, Edith Atkinson, Betty Lou Griffith (Bobby), Mildred Thurman and Margaret Thurman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
