He was predeceased by : his parents, Johnnie Shingler and Hattie Shingler; his siblings, Willie Shingler, Misoura Shingler-Grant, MaeElla Shingler, Robert Shingler, Mack Shingler, Johnnie Shingler, Odean Shingler, Emma Jean Shingler-Nickens, Flossie Bryant-Goodwin and Matthew Olin; and his spouse Eartha Mae Shingler.

He is survived by : his children, Mary Lee Moore (Delton), Johnell Shingler, Larry Wright (Louise) and Lawrence Shingler; and his grandchildren, Cynthia King (Councilman Gregory), McAuthor Shingler, Pastor Detreia Hollingsworth (Gregory), Alethea Carr (Darryl), Jenell Marcus (Michael), Gary Wright, Kevin Wright, Angelique Shingler-Okonkwo (Francis), Terell Wright, Weldon King, Jasmin Shingler-Brown (Winfield), Stacie Wright, Brian Moxey Shingler, Lawrence Shingler II (Jessica), Alex Ford, Sylvester Shingler and England Shingler. He is also survived by thirty-six great-grand children; five great-great grandchildren; one great-great- great grandchild, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews.
