He was predeceased by : his parents, John Flemming "Bub" Gause and Tula Collins Gause; and his siblings, Webster "Vincent" Gause, Delone "Collins" Gause, Herbert "Ryan" Gause, Stanton Gause, Avis Wallace, Claire Gennaro, Bleecker Godwin and Jewell G. Hoefer.

He is survived by : his wife Elfriede; his sons, Ralph Gause (Lian) and John Gause (Seana); his brother Franklin "Guy" Gause; his grandchildren, Angela, Melissa, Kris, John E., Sean and AJ; his nephew Daniel Gause; and his adoptive daughter Joan Hill (Norma McAllister). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
