He was predeceased by: his parents, James Howard and Eula Mae Wright Payne; his son Randy Steven; his grandson Randy Garrick Payne; his great grandchild Jazzlyn Mae Payne; and his siblings, James Wilford Payne and Nancy Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Purdy Payne; his son Mike Payne (Kelly) of Westminster; his siblings, William Payne (Sue) of Cornelia, Georgia and Mary Williamson of McCaysville; his granddaughters, Katie Payne and Hannah Payne; and his great grandchildren, Van Payne and Charlie Payne-Wade. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
