He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Matthews and Minnie Mae Sweezy Matthews; and his siblings, Linda Brewer, Juanita Champion and Donnie Matthews.
He is survived by: his close friend Donna Satterfield; his children, Leonard Matthews of Spartanburg, John Osment of Gaffney, Cody Killough of Spartanburg, James Satterfield of Gaffney, Crystal Griffin (Darrell) of Gaffney and Shelley Gould (Chris) of Gaffney; his brothers, Doyle Stephenson (Dottie) of Walhalla, Jimmy Matthews (Jean) of Union and Kenny Matthews of Spartanburg; and his grandchildren, Hayden Griffin, Sieth Griffin, Kaitlyn Griffin, Matthew Murry, Noah Goss, Madison Rakestraw, Peyton Osment and Paisley Osment.
