He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Paul Cathcart and Daisy Ella Livesay; his sisters, Evelyn Lucille Cathcart and Betty Faye Stephens; and his brother-in-law Dr. George Caldwell.
He is survived by: his wife Anita Caldwell Cathcart; his children, Donald S. Cathcart, Jr. (Kim) of Spartanburg and Dean Alan Cathcart (Shannon) of Drayton; his brother Melvin Cathcart; and his brother-in-law Charles Caldwell (Nancy). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
