With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edna Smith Burgess (Spartanburg, South Carolina), who passed away on November 1, 2025 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Tillman Greer and Lena Hellener Wood; her son Eddie; her daughter-in-law Rhonda Smith; her daughter Betty Lee; her grandchildren, Shane and Kitty; her great grandchild Christian Tracy; and her great great grandchild Connor McLaughlin.
She is survived by: her children, Van Smith, Dianne Mattox (Pastor David), Edna', Mark Smith, Pam and Jill. She is also survived by Nanny to her surviving, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren; as well as Aunt Edna to her many precious nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Manna Baptist Church (121 Flatwood Ln, Spartanburg, SC 29307). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
