He was predeceased by: his mother Lucille Wells Barnes; and his brother Jay Claudius Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Jerri Jean Walker Barnes; his daughter Julie DuBose (Neil); and his grandchildren, Hayley Michelle DuBose of Sumter and Walker McNeil DuBose of Sumter.
