He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory Z. Simmons and Eloise Langston Simmons; and his siblings, Bill Simmons, Donald Simmons and Mabel Simmons Walker.
He is survived by: his wife Terri Croft Simmons; his children, Gail Simmons Barnes (John) of Wedgefield and Ryan Reaves, Jr. (Tiffany) of Sumter; his grandchildren, John Thomas Barnes of Wedgefield, Austin Reaves of Sumter, Kodie Reaves of Sumter, Lakin Reaves of Sumter and Morgan Reaves of Sumter; and his close friend Earnest of Washington. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
