He was predeceased by: his sons, Ricky Kirby and Harry Kirby; and his siblings, Robert Kirby, Carey Lee Kirby, Nelson Kirby, Eldear Kirby and Doris Harwell.
He is survived by: his wife Almeda Salyers Kirby; his children, Patricia K. Nielsen (Vic) of Sumter, Gail Scarborough (Greg) of Sumter, Guy W. Kirby (Lora) of Dalzell and David E. Kirby (Tina) of Sumter; and his siblings, Hinnant Kirby (Wilma) of Gaston, Jimmy Kirby (Lila) of Gaston, William Kirby (Annie) of Gaston, Elsie Mae Davis of Cayce, Christine Vencill of Gaston and Janice Mooney (Craig) of Gaston. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P. M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Gail and Greg Scarborough, 1735 Broome St. Those attending are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
