He was predeceased by: his parents, Carroll Nelson Gist and Sarah Ham; his brother James Willie "Milkbone" Jones; and his aunt Carry Jones. He is survived by: his sister Gwendolyn Sweat; his children, Nathaniel Dukes of Charlotte, NC, Marilyn Moore of Sumter, SC and Shanita Jones York of Columbia, SC; his siblings, John Day of Sumter, SC and Michelle M. Leaf of Sumter, SC; and his grandchildren, Kirsten Pia Strong, Nathaniel Dukes, Jr., Kenisha Moore, Steven Moore and Lauren Moore.
