He is survived by: his mother Dorothy Ruth Barkley Hughes; his sons, Raymond D. Hughes, Jr. of Manning, Justin T. Hughes of California and Aaron M. Hughes (Ruby) of Sumter; his grandchildren, Sawyer Hughes and Thomas Hughes; and his siblings, Wayne Hughes (Janice) of Manning, Mark Hughes (Tracy) of Manning and Patricia Anderson (Michael) of Sumter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
