It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shelby Batten (Sumter, South Carolina), born in Wedgefield, South Carolina, who passed away on July 20, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorand R. Batten and Maude Batten; and his brother Lorand R. "Randy" Batten, Jr.. He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Sue B. Stengel of Sumter, Pam B. Baker (John) of Sumter and Melissa B. Beasley (Brad) of Mayesville; his son-in-law Shawn Stengel; his grandchildren, Blake Stengel (Molly), Laura B. Geddings (Clint), John Wells Baker and Olivia Beasley; his siblings, Robert E. Batten (Mary Alice) of Camden, Virginia Weaver of Sumter and Kathryn Bryson of Florida; his grandsons, Drew Stengel, Britton Beasley and Clint Geddings; his nephews, Sanford Weaver, Mike Weaver, Lorand "Buddy" Batten and Richard Canty; and also Gail Barnes. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
