He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Earl Benenhaley, Sr. and Erline B. Benenhaley; and his siblings, Eadie Billings, Rose Mary Benenhaley and Ronald Benenhaley.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Graham Benenhaley; and his children, Ronald Benenhaley, Glenda Blackmon (John), Jason Benenhaley (Susan) and Timothy Benenhaley. He is also survived by grandchildren.
