He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph B. Speer and Sarah Smith Speer. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Keene Speer; his children, Becky Bourdess (David) of Martinez, GA, Mary Terry (Brian) of Central, SC, Leah Tripp (Daniel) of Archdale, NC, Mark Speer (Julie) of Braselton, GA, Jonathan Speer (Heather) of Greenville and Joseph Speer (Elizabeth) of Easley; his sister Mary Jackson of Murphy, NC; and his daughter-in-law Melissa Speer. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.
