He was predeceased by : his father John Earl Gowdy, Sr.; his brother John Earl Gowdy, Jr.; and his mother-in-law Janet Feagin. He is survived by : his mother Sybil Smith Gowdy; his wife Sharon Feagin Gowdy; his son Ben Gowdy; his father-in-law Starling Feagin (Julia); his nieces and nephews, Jonathan Gowdy, Chase Feagin, Kayden Feagin, Chris Owens, Laura Gowdy Hysong, Kinlee Feagin and Kara Jane Feagin; his great-nephews, Tyler Gowdy and Dylan Hysong; and his great-niece Maddie Berkenstock.
