He was predeceased by : his wife Sue Ann Rentz; and his father Herman W. Rentz. He is survived by : his mother Joyce Rentz; his brothers, Herman "Rusty" Rentz, Mark Anthony Rentz and Hunter Christopher Rentz; his children, Charles "Ricky" Richard Smith, Jr., Whitney Ann Gunter and Ryan Gregory Rentz; and his grandsons, Charles "Trey" Richard Smith, III and Caleb Matthew Williams.
