He was predeceased by : his parents, Harold K. McLain and Mary Louise Thompson McLain; his grandson Grayson Plowden; his brother Jack McLain; and his close friend Izzy.

He is survived by : his wife Brenda Butner McLain; his children, Trey Plowden (Kim), Jennifer Boatwright (Steven), Jeff McLain (Cathy) and Todd McLain; and his grandchildren, Spencer Plowden (Danielle), Emma Plowden, Olivia Boatwright, John Boatwright, Zach McLain and Taylor McLain.

Memorials may be made to Convent Baptist Church, 787 Convent Church Road, Leesville, SC 29070.
