Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Luther Benjamin Baker of West Columbia, South Carolina, born in Camden, South Carolina, who passed away at the age of 80, on February 19, 2021. He was predeceased by : his parents, Flossie Davis and Daniel Luther Baker; his wife Carolyn Joan Gentry Baker; and his sister Pearline Baker Davis. He is survived by : his children, Allen L. Baker of West Columbia, SC, Randy Baker (Lynn) of West Columbia, SC and Brenda Austin (Noel) of North Dinwiddie, VA; his step-son David Edwin Swearingen of Cayce, SC; his grandchildren, Allison R. Baker (Mike Miller) and David J. Martin (Meredith); his step-granddaughter Ashley K. Hagwood (Blake); his great grandchildren, Emery Miller, Chloe and Everly Martin; his step-great-grandchildren, Sidney, Mike Miller, Talon, Mason Harlin and Maddison Blake Hagwood; his half-siblings, Regina Baker of Gaston, SC and Danny Baker of Hardeeville, SC; his siblings-in-law, Gloria Gentry Shackelford and P. Keith Carter; his niece Robin A. Shackelford; and his nephew Terry L. Shackelford (Ali).
Visitation was held on Friday, February 26th 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Thompson Funeral Home (4720 Augusta Rd, Lexington, SC 29073). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 27th 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Broadacres Baptist Church (2350 Taylor Rd, Cayce, SC 29033). A burial was held on Saturday, February 27th 2021 at 12:00 PM at the Southland Memorial Gardens (700 W Dunbar Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170). Please wear face masks and honor social distancing.
