He was predeceased by : his parents, William Dallas Carey and Iva Williams Carey; his brother Spencer Carey (Pam) of Marianna, FL.; his daughters, Tina Carey Blackwell and Sharon Carey Mitchum; and his granddaughter Stephanie Blackwell.

He is survived by : his spouse Fay Harper Carey of West Columbia; his daughter Renee Shealy (Mark); his grandson Travis Carey Blackwell (Kim); his great grandchildren, Madelyn Crapps (Bryan Matthews), Evan Crapps (Lillie Hallman), Briceton Graber, Sadie Farrell Blackwell and Dallas Henry Blackwell; his great great grandchildren, Teal and Pressley Crapps; his son-in-law Ronnie Blackwell (Ann); and his sister JoAva Norungolo of Spartanburg, SC.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Southland Memorial Gardens (700 W Dunbar Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170).
