He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Clay and Maude Gallimore Akers; and his son Joshua Akers. He is survived by: his wife Debora Drenkhana Akers; his sons, Jared Akers of Enoree and Jonathan Akers of Texas; his stepchildren, Jacky Yopp of Enoree, Misty Young of Enoree and Ashley Pullian of Enoree; and his siblings, Frank Akers of Virginia, Jerry Callimore of Virginia, Billy Akers and Alice Clinton of Enoree. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren.
