He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Donald Gustav and Maxine Mertz (Thompson); his children, Brenda Michelle Kalehzan, Kerry Scott Mertz (Kari) and Roberta Kay Richard (Mike); his grandchildren, Taylor Mertz (Scott Meyer), Derek Mertz, Yasimine Kalehzan (Andres Lopez), Aria Kalehzan, Natasha Verigin and Sorinne Verigin; his stepgrandchildren, Nicholas Richard and Mackenzie Richard; his great grandchildren, Yulianna Lopez, Amelia Meyer, Gabriel Lopez, Ingrid Meyer, Rafael Lopez and Greta Meyer; his former wife Ruth Morey; his siblings, Marlys Buntrock, Norma Daly (Tony), Richard 'Dick' Mertz (Barb) and Audrey Kabella; his brother-in-law Gary Buntrock; and his granddaughters, Sophia and Anya Verigin. He was also cherished by friends, and his friends.
