He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Schmidt and Theresa Schmidt (Deis); and his brother David Schmidt. He is survived by: his significant other Bernadette Rieger; his grandchildren, Benjamin Schutz (Courtney), Justin Engler (Sara), Dominic Schmidt (Annie), Alycia Cooper (David), David Hancock, Derek Schmidt, Michael Schmidt (Ashley) and Adam Schutz; and his siblings, Janet Schile (Lawrence) and Charles Schmidt (Sandra). He is also survived by 13 great-grand children.
