He was predeceased by: his parents, Klass Rust and Ora Rust (Leemhuis); his significant other Josephine Thurston; his brothers, Peter and Robert Rust; and his niece Eileen Schoenwetter.
He is survived by: his daughter Anita Thurston; his sister-in-law Carol Rust; and his nieces and nephews, Steve Rust (Cheri) of Aberdeen, SD, Roger Rust (Lori) of Goodwin, SD, Richard Rust of Watertown, SD, Gary Rust (Ardis) of Sioux Falls, SD, Karen Powell of Sioux Falls, SD and Diane Addison (Steve) of Oregon.
