It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Emma Berndt (Herreid, South Dakota), who passed away on February 24, 2019, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Christina Sr (Vilhauer) and August Renz, Sr.; her husband Harold; her siblings, Phillip Renz, August Renz Jr., Reuben Renz, Leonora Rau and Lizzie Quenzer; and her son-in-law Dennis Bates.
She is survived by: her daughter Darlene Bates of Herreid; her grandchildren, Tam Hurley (Al), Mark Bates (Trista), Missy Stover and Randy Berndt; and her great grandchildren, Conner, Rilyn, Payton Bates, Austin and Justin Stover.
