It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Arthur Champion of Herreid, South Dakota, born in Toledo, Ohio, who passed away on July 28, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Glen Champion and Mildred Champion (Stout); his children, Terry Omland (Ginger) of Miles City, MT and Cheryl Sammons of Toledo, OH; his grandchildren, DeDe Stieber, Dena Lang (Rick) and Shanna Murnion (Abe); his brother Verlin Champion (Ann) of Toledo, OH; his siblings-in-law, Deb Larson (Barry) of Herreid, JoAnn Champion of Toledo, OH, Bob Huber (Marcia) of Herreid and Al DeGregario of Toledo, OH; his nieces, Erika Larson of Herreid and Dena Hanson (Arnie) of Herreid; his nephew Preston Huber (Kayla) of Herreid; his wife Peggy Ann Champion (Huber); and his siblings, Shirley DeGregario and Ronald Champion. He was also cherished by 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
Melvin was a member of Walleyes Unlimited, the American Legion in Great Falls and Herreid, and the Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation.
