She was predeceased by: her parents, John Herman and Emma Mary Malpert; her husband Preceding; her son-in-law Gary Schwartz; her brothers, Rudolph (Gladys), Marvin (Ester), Herman (Elsie) and Otto (Edith); and her siblings-in-law, Rudolph Swanson and Mildred Swanson.
She is survived by: her former husband Carl Bernard Swanson; her daughters, Nancy Swanson (Chuck Dupraz) of Brookings and Carla Swanson Durkee (Mike Durkee) of Iowa City; her grandchildren, Ian Durkee (Jessica), Allison Durkee (Jamie Forst), Anna Durkee Giesting (Sam) of Indianapolis, IN, Cassye Durkee and Zach Schwartz (Caitlin) of Seattle, WA; her brother John Malpert (Mary Schulz); and her cousin Lucille Green. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
